Matthew - "Chance Ambient
"Chance Ambient" is Matthew's fourth and newest CD made using chance operations. Inspired by both John Cage and Brian Eno.
The first piece "Moon
Angels" is based around a beautiful piano motif that repeats in varying random
stages. Voices float through the sound spectrum as a fading delay tunes the
senses with bell like clarity.
"Rippling Drones" uses delays to accentuate the lower bass drones that create
the foundation. Using woodwind and stringed instruments through a multitude of
delays creates the rippling pond visions.
As most of my song titles are mini descriptions of the song itself this one is
perfect. Usually I don't choose negative sounding titles for songs but it fits
too well for this song. Think of yourself in the desert watching the harsh
realities of a desert ecosystem knowing you are desperately alone but at the
same time reminding yourself of the beauty that the desert possesses.
I have written "Sweeping Images" aptly named because most sounds
used have movement to them. Another great pillow to lose yourself in during a
meditation or message.
To End the CD I wrote "Two One" which is almost a remake of Brian Eno's "2/1." I used his method of making that song and copied to create this piece. They are very similar and to complete the CD that is influenced by Brian Eno I wrote a song coming as close as possible to one of his.
